Anyway, back to the point....

It was a comms failure - the internal communications system between the gallery, the set, the newsroom and all outside sources went into meltdown. For a brief period before Fast Track, communications between the gallery and the presenters involved someone running from the gallery, shouting the next story to the presenters, then the presenters starting to read it when the red light went on. They're running on a bit of a make-do system at the moment, with severely limited comms. There may well be more schedule changes to come.

Only now catching up with the events - I note a simulcast of BBC ONE's Six is now being transmitted on N24.

Who said only the Ten would be simulcast - today we'll get all BBC One news programmes on N24! I reckon there's nowt wrong with the comms, it's just more cuts!!! Wink

Anyway, good job they sorted out the astons ready for the Ten simulcast or they'd have been screwed today!

Was the One on N24 too, or did they have the usual with Mr/Mrs Signlanguage?

Yep, and quite a bit of News 24 came from N6 too. Obviously still not sorted the problems.

I have just realised there were a couple of pages on here lol. I usually have N24 on in the mornings and forgot I didn't today!

Quite a clean junction back to Louise in N8 there. The Six signed off by just saying "That's it, goodbye!"

Well they've scraped through the day quite well, considering the major comms issues they've had; their contingency plans worked quite well, and also showed the value of having two presenters in, and having N6 available for emergency use.

I would imagine the overnight World simulcast will come from N9 tonight to give them more time to make sure the News 24 set is ready for the morning.

Sorry for asking a question which probably has a ridiculously obvious answer . . . but I'll ask it anyway!

Why does the World simulcast come from N8 and not N9? With only minimal numbers watching N24 overnight, and now that World is now available in the USA (where the 'overnight' shift is shown from 8pm to midnight E.T), surely it would make more sense to simulcast from N9?
