I've said it before but Peter Dobbie is an absolutly top quality news broadcaster. He has a very smooth, relaxed and likeable style. Always does a very efficient job. I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoys his presenting slots on the late nights. I would love him to be given an opportunity on the national news. (Although I think he would be a fantastic national bulletin presenter, I think News 24 would miss him too much from the 23.00 - 01.00 slot.) He suits it well, I get the impression he is enjoying himself, and prefers working alone - it's also a good opportunity to watch a comprehensive hour and a half of news stories, and a useful, interesting review of the next day's papers. I hope this part of the N24 schedule won't be changed. The TOTH trademark grin is great Laughing

That site used to contain dozens of soft-focus glamour shots of her. Wonder why she's decided to start again.

What like this?

Perhaps all News 24 presenters should have one; shame Stephen Cole has left.

Fascinating little spat between Simon McCoy and Liz Pike this morning. She accused him of "glazing over" during a complex (business?) piece, he said "you can't say that" and wouldn't let the matter drop, Adnan Nawaz looking on embarassed and bemused.

No tower or ticker on News 24 for the last half hour or so.

EDIT: everything repearred at 4.32pm, then when the website graphic came, picture went mad - looked like frosted glass over the picture, and same for studio so wasnt just graphic. Then picture went back to normal, but the tower and ticker are gone again!

Jon and Louise had a laugh though - e-mail if they look better behind frosted glass!

EDIT: 4.36pm, and we're all back to normal again, then the frosted glass re-appeared over a shot of Louise, then picture came back without tower or ticker! Astons are gone aswell. Onviously graphics are up the left! Confused

Big Brother Coverage News 24 tonight - Well done Channel 4.

A little overkill me thinks.

Well, it's not so much Big Brother coverage as George Galloway coverage. News 24 hasn't given a nod to CBB except when mentioning it in conjunction with Galloway, and frankly I applaud any outlet that gives time to mocking him, even if it is giving free publicity to a rival broadcaster. The BBC also got a bit of free publicity on C4 when during the 'debriefing' interview with Davina, they played out a message from Jeremy Paxman with the Newsnight logo behind him.

The Ten O'Clock News will be simulcast on News 24 from Monday.

They've dumped the 22:30 World Business Report too and the '10 o'clock News Hour' will run on N24 for a full 60 minutes. I'm assuming the 10 itself will be simulcast on N24, and then the N24 plug at the end of the 30mins will redirect viewers to N24 for a more in-depth analysis between 22:30 and 23:00.

I will be interested to see how this is handled; I would imagine that Peter Dobbie will be starting earlier, as he has been doing anyway to do the headlines in the WBR break.

This article in the Independent might explain why.
