I'd never thought of that, if the Ten was simulcast on BBC One and BBC News 24, it would make more sense to use the News 24 studio. That way they could just use the same studio team as News 24 would have on for the rest of the night.

I suppose that would be a benefit but to be perfectly honest I prefer N24 which provides a summary of the news then in depth analysis, with continuous coverage on developing stories, as opposed to the overall round-up provided by the Ten O' Clock News. Saying that, I'm sure there could be a simulcast with N24 opting out if there is any breaking or developing news.
Also, is there any possibility that N24 could present from the main set and the Ten present from the right hand pod at the same time?
I wouldn't have thought so, there would be a lot of feedback heard from the presenters on News 24, and vice versa. I agree that it would be better to keep two separate 10pm bulletins, but I think if the Ten was to be simulcast it would be better to use the News 24 set.
Maybe if News 24 wanted to opt out they could present from the newsroom?
I can't help feeling that the N24 set is a bit too bright and breezy for the 10 which I think requires a slighly darker, more formal look. Perhaps with a few lighting tweaks for the bulletin it could work though.

Would they need to move out of the studio before the bulletin?.
The 9.30pm slot could then be presented from the BBC London News studio!

Thats the only problem were getting dangerously close toward a itv news style fogg them off into different studios scenario. Perhaps a cso of the bbc n24 studio would be more apropriate - like the one used on bbci

Well, they could just move HardTalk to an earlier slot or even World Business Report and simulcast it live, if they had major problems.
But hey, this is pure speculation and I suspect the change will be something completely different.
I'd be against News 24 simulcasting the Ten. Yes, Bakhurst is right that the Ten provides analysis, but If I want to watch the Ten, I'll turn over to BBC One. What service does having the Ten broadcast on two channels provide the viewer? None, in fact it takes a service away.
It's just a cost cutting measure. I don't blame them for that, if you've got no money you have to make cuts, but they should be honest about it and not pretend it's an improvement.
On to lighter matters... I've found out what Jane Hill's been doing on her weeks off. She's been over in Hollywood turning her hand to acting...

If the BBC do that, I swear everything will begin to go downhill.
The Ten is basiclly the flagship bullitain, it needs to be exclusive to BBC One. If that is the case, why not just scrap the whole idea of national news bullitains and just use broadcasts from BBC News 24. Then the BBC will do very well in the ratings battle
The ten o'clock bulletin on News 24 isn't that unique, and unless there's a story really breaking at that time, all you usually get is two-ways with the same correspondents you see on BBC One....just in a different order. So I don't think there would be that much to lose by News 24 sharing with BBC One at that time.
