At the moment, because this has been a particularly tough news shift, I rate him basically as coping, because at least he is coping. A little wooden, a bit nervous, but nothing that cannot be rectified with time and practice. At least he is partnered with someone like Louise who is experienced in handling breaking news.

Excellent example of the complete shift in BBC News policy just 3 minutes ago on News 24.
They've just broken tonight's Newsnight survey of Lib Dem MPs (showing the majority want him to go) and directed viewers to watch Newsnight tonight for more.
This would never have happened before Horracks came in- the story would probably have been broken on the 10 just before newsnight, but now the information is shared through the common pool of News 24.
Excellent to see.

They're kinda obsessed with this guy Kennedy, right? Funny sort of a name for a politician - as it strikes one from 'across the pond'...
Never have I seen someone post a statement so at odds with their username!

Errm - Just been watching the football and moved back
Since when have two sports presenters occupied the hallowed news Desk - as they are tonight. Have the main presenters decamped to LibDem HQ?

Perhaps this is just a new style for Sportsday?
Other special programmes on the channel get to use the set, such as Dateline London, so why not Sportsday.

sorry to quote from the front page - I know that there are hundreds of pages on this discussion.
I too like the countdown.
I suppose that if you do that emergency thing (go in, stay in, tune in [?]), and tune in. When your worried, the countdown would just let you know that the bulletins are still being broadcast, so that it knows that a minute is about to pass, and that the BBC havn't forgotten about you (obviously not you personally, but the people in the emergency), and that the news will be up-to-date, and relavent. Is it just me, or does it have a protected safe feel?
Like I just said, sorry for dragging up from the front page
