David really is a good presenter (the only thing I can't stand on RS is the way he wobbles when he talks to camera sometimes - but if RS had a proper set, this wouldn't be a problem! Laughing ).

I don't think he gets a chance to interact fully with his co-presenters on RS though, as we know, he and Ms Bird are not the best of friends, so it is nice to see him on News 24, where I think he is better suited.
If i recall the reason for that was he made a joke about "that top" she wore on hogmany programme on 2002 as we all were......turns out she has *no* sense of humor...

Yep, that was, I think, the straw that broke the camel's back. Though I'm sure I read there were other incidents, and that they just didn't connect at all. Must be a nightmare having to work in a situation like that all the time, but they soldier on and hide it relatively well...

I think that may only be because shes stopped nagging at his jokes and trying to pull him up about it on air....shes learned that the viewers like him more and she has chosen to sit back and laugh with him...which is better viewing

Thanks for interesting bits about David & Jackie - I did not realise there were issues there. I had heard rumours he was not liked by many at Reporting Scotland. If you have any other snippets about on air issues I would be interested to hear more.

So did David have a go at Jackie on air about her clothes or was it behind the scenes?

One last thing - has anyone heard of or seen Brenda Paterson recently... she was another early BBC News 24 presenter I recall... along with stints on Reporting Scotland.
DV
DVB Cornwall
Nick Higham doing yet another much repeated 'Fact File' - however a small error in the Most Important event of 2005 - Wasn't the Tsunami in December 2004? - Being pedantic I know but shouldn't they be using the expression "The Aftermath of the Tsunami" have been used instead.

edir...

And why do we need two business presenters today?, The usual Studio one (thankfully not Julia Caesar) and another from 'The City' seems a little excessive to me.

Stephen Cole has now officially left Click Online, which will become 'Click' and have a new presenter from early 2006. So, yet another big face of News 24 has left, do you think we'll loose any others next year? Also, on a completely different note what ever happened to Susanna Reid - is she coming back to N24?

1930 - News 24 reporting UK hostages released in Gaza. No news on Sky News, they've gone into an entertainment review of the year!

EDIT - though N24's Tower has now got stuck and been taken down - good timing!

No doubt there is an element of truth in all this but more likely it's been distorted out of all proportion. We all work with people we don't particularly like I mean look at Philis Hayton. She left News 24 because of a strop with Kate Bush. Apparantly Kate didn't make Philis her morning tea and Philis threw a wobbler. Or something like that.

"Dick head" maybe. His four hour gushing tribute to himself at the end of the show was wretch worthy.

Well at least he's now said goodbye. Let's drink to a long [long, long, long] career at Al Jazeera
