Actually I like Joanna and Gwenan. They both look stunning and are quietly professional. Did you see the handover to John Hammond on Friday night? Chris and Gwenan were talking about a house covered in yogurt (yes, yogurt) John had a glint in his eye, started laughing and couldn't speak for about 10 seconds. Worth seeing
...although John did make it clear that the reason for that was because "it was a bit of a rush to get on air for me this evening".
It looks like there's a newsroom stint coming up with Louise talking to the correspondents in the newsroom behind the desk...plenty of action and script waving behind the frosted glass
Not seen one of these for a while...
Cant Wait... I was saying to someone the otherday how good the N24 set would look without the perspects, just some sort of clear perspects, or none atall and just a railing , make it much more "We are BBC News, and we present our fantastic news channel from the newsroom where we can get news faster to you than Sky or ITV.
I don't think they should change the frosted perspex, as it looks kind of cool as the presenters hand over to each other through the glass, and the view of the 'studio' area from the newsroom, where the perspex sweeps round in a circle, is quite smart.
The way that you could see the windows in the background this time (never saw this when they used it for the election) was good.
What they should do is put another screen up in this area and do more presentation from there.
I have to say, I really dislike Carrie Gracie. She sounds as though she has a permanent cold, her pronunciation is sloppy and her accent is loathsome Estuary English. What is this woman doing reading the BBC News?!
Agreed, she's not a wonderful presenter, but what does her accent really have to do with it? She's perfectly understandable, and nowadays BBC presenters don't HAVE to speak with perfect RP (look at the main presenter for the 10, as just one high profile example...)
They don't have to speak with perfect RP, but I think they should at least ban accents that are as sloppy as Carrie's. It's not the fact that it diverges from RP that I dislike; merely the fact that it contains lazy features such as dropping t's. It also just doesn't carry the right prestige and authority that is, in my view, proper for a BBC presenter, and it irritates me to listen to her.
No offence but isn't a little ironic that the Joanna Gosling Fan is criticising other presenters' pronunciation when, in my and many other people's view, Joanna Gosling's pronunciation is one of the worst on N24? I'd rather watch Carrie Gracie than Joanna Gosling anyday - at least Carrie isn't as dull as Joanna.
Well, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "dull". At least Joanna pronounces her words properly with perfect enunciation, unlike Carrie. Joanna may be quite formal, but I think that's just proper for a BBC newsreader.

When I say dull I mean she is uninteresting to watch and her combination with Chris Lowe is incredibly boring unlike, for example, Jon Sopel and Louise Minchin. All though I do accept it should be about the news itself I find stories and interviews incredibly boring with Joanna and Chris rather than Jon and Louise.
Dunno if this is the right place, but did anybody seeing the TOTH at 10pm last night? They played out the BBC World titles with a headline related to the world cup decision.
Ahhh, the delightful Joanna Gosling. Underneath that quiet exterior is someone who is great fun and a delight to be with. She is just professional and doing her job properly.
If you want to go on about accents, try Martine Croxall's Albert Square-esque cockney pronunciations - they go down a storm here in BBC World land, where Arabs, Chinese, Indians and the rest are all wondering what the heck she is saying.............honest BBC! Think about it. That's why Mr. Yates is FAR more suited to the simulcast slot than Martine Croxall or Jake Lynch, for goodness sake.
That's interesting - Joanna is presenting again this morning, despite having been on until midnight last night (or as far as I know; I didn't watch last night). I've never seen her presenting at this time before.
