My dearest Moz!

I cannot align Mr. Yates with any of your adjectives, above. Are you sure you are not referring to Reggie Yates from Top of the Pops, or even Eddie Yates, the bin man from Coronation Street?

Alastair Yates is a legend.

Reggie Yates - unlike Alastair - is a very good TV presenter. Never heard of Eddie Yates so can't comment.

If AY is such a legend, why is he confined to a couple of hours filling in for Hayton?

Can you see through the daze of Wrexham (and the Status Q Extravaganza from the dear council...) and see this man is truely a great, he really is a legend, so comfortable with the viewer and authoritive with the news. The male Moira.

Mr. Yates is SUPERB! No other word for it.

Oh I don't know. Try these words...

SEEDY, BORING, AWKWARD, UNUSUAL...

No, no, no, no way.
He's great, I'm glad he's working more and more on BBCWorld.

Erm... he's not - he's regularly on the 0100-0500 shift on BBC World as well. Still, let's not allow facts to stand in the way of your obsession with deriding a perfectly capable presenter.

It's not an obsession, I just think he's really awful. BBC World is second fiddle to News 24 and so being on there can hardly be a strong endorsement of a presenter.

I'd be very surprised if BBC World presenters salaries are anything near prime-time News 24 presenters, and this is the strongest indicator of what the BBC think of a presenter.

So you are saying people like Lyce Doucet and Nik Gowing are not a strong endorsement of a presenter because they are presenting on BBC World only.

But they all work for BBC News at the end of the day.

Yes. Lyce is great out on location but quite awful in the studio. Not seen much of Nik Gowing apart from when he does Dateline London.

The likes of Lyse Doucet, Nik Gowing, Nisha Pillai and Zeinab Badawi are first rate BBC World journalists and of far greater ability than some of the young pretenders we see on News 24 from time to time.

To say that BBC World is second rate to News 24 is a very bizarre statement. However, everyone ie entitled to their opinions.

I disagree on the statements about pay and presenting ability, but BBC World is very much second rate to News 24, both in terms of budget and importance for the BBC.

BBC World makes the BBC look good across the globe and is something that the BBC (and in a strange way all of us) can be proud of.

But News 24 is something the BBC have to get right- the new number one news priority bar none. Forget the 10, 6, 1 and World.....News 24's the "one to watch" over the next few months.
