I really must protest at all this criticism of Joanna. Personally, I find her attractive and pleasant to listen to; she has impeccable received pronunciation and a highly professional presentation style.
If only you were in the LDN region - you would be getting all wet - she is the late presenter on the ten tonight!

So she is - that's a bit of an unusual development. BBC London is in need of a new presenter, after the departure of Samantha Simmonds. I wonder if this is just a one-off or a more permanent fixture.
She seems to be speaking rather slowly and robotic, as if the autocue is moving at a snail's pace!

It may be a one off - a bit like Helen Fospero - i certanly hope so!
Dont forget Gillian Joseph hasnt actually been replaced either at BBC London so they are two presenters down, although they are left with:
Emily Maitlis
Asad Ahmed
Matt Barbet
Louisa Preston
Riz Lateef
Mike Ramsden
Quite a substancial number of presenters, with absolutly no continuity to when they present, apart from Emily at 6.30 mon-thur.
So it was a surprise to see Joanna on BBC LDN and a nice one at that.
No idea why she's on , has everyone else p'd off to sky .
Her delivery is a bit formal for local tv news ; thats the first time I've ever seen her on anything that isn't a national news show. Hope she does it again.
and now we see Joanna doing a live report on BBC LDN this evening. Emily at the end of it said... maybe you shud be a permanent fixture (even though she was talking about the oxford street christmas lights with shoppers being brought back by joanna!)

Ah, i wondered what the little quip was - makes sense now!
Emily also mentioned Joanna will be back later in the 10 o'clock news, if anyone missed her yesterday!
I like the way they're doing the plug for the BBCi news multiscreen now. Rather than way they used to just explain parrot style every BOTH from the summary both, they now do it in a relaxed way. Both presenters in shot from the left or right with one of the screens in the background with the multiscreen. They even cover both versions now, satellite and Freeview.
Earlier they did it very effectively as a report about over the top christmas lights ended on one of the screens with the presenters in shot who then commented on the story, and then it faded into the multiscreens, which they explained, and then it switched to Alex Deakin and Chris said something along the lines of, "that's not an option you want!"
They had a virtual screen to the left of the left hand screen! They were shot from the right with the two presenters at the desk, an interviewee on the left hand screen (they were talking about whales) and this monstrousity 'tacked' on to the left hand side of that featuring a picture of some whales.
Nice idea? Not sure, it was so poorly implemented I couldn't tell!
Yeah, I saw that too. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but it didn't look quite right. Nice idea, can see some potential for it, but not too sure that it looked quite right that time.
