Is today a 'slow news day' - They seem to be repeating items somewhat more rapidly than normal.

The repeated 'live' interview between Sissons and the reporters in Cancun and Florida has been shown very frequently.

Has Alistair Yates officially taken the Sunday afternoon slot? Also, loved his intro....'And thank you for choosing BBC News 24'. i love the fact that he hardly uses 'Good Afternoon' or 'Good Evening' as a greeting.

Makes him unique!

Alastair seems to be split between News 24 and BBC World at the moment. He can regularly seen presenting BBC World on Friday and Saturday evenings. He also used to do Sunday evenings on BBC World, but that has ceased since he's started doing N24 on Sunday afternoons.

I thought Stephen Cole had taken over the Sunday afternoon shift on N24.

Does anybody else feel that Sky News should have asked Alastair Yates to return as part of the relaunch. I think he would be better suited to Sky and they would be more likely to give him a half decent deserved time slot unlike N24 who stick him on during the nights. He would have been good with Gillian Joseph for the 9pm-12am shift unlike Chris Roberts who I find utterly dull.

Thats a very UK-centric view though. You have to remember there is NO News 24 overnight, Its a simulcast with its International sister station BBC World forming BBC News and as such Big Al actually features as the prime time presenter in many parts of the world.

Indeed, Alastair is being seen by far more viewers on BBC News 24 and BBC World than he would on Sky News.

Yes, but if Sky offered him more money, I'm sure he wouldn't give a ****.

Well earning money is the end game as they say.

Money isn't everything. Alistair is probably quite happy with his current split between Neews24 and World.

For the first time this morning I've actually managed to hear the "restarted" headline bed. Sounds bloody awful, just what are they thinking?

If theres a need for a new headline bed I hear World have rather a good one... (Thats a hint, no just me been stupid).

It does sound awful, you're right. Why they are doing it, I have no idea. It's worked well with just playing it once for nearly 2 years, so I don't see why there needs to be a change just for the sake of it.

Well it seems to have stopped now. They've had two TOTH's without it.

On a completely different note, I'm surprised how fast N24 has turned around the Volvic story, considering it was a Working Lunch story. Just surprised it was out so fast, rather than having to wait unitl N24 Tonight!

Suspect this is the impact of the new head of TV News who is trying to get the multiple BBC outlets to work together rather than in competition with each other.

Getting cut stories around the building is easier than ever now that all except BBC Three News are playing out from linked server systems.
