What kind of presenter reshuffle should News 24 have to rival Sky News' new presenter line-up? Which presenters should they poach, give the boot and pair up?

They've only just had a presenter reshuffle. Some of the old pairings had been together for years, so I wouldn't expect them all to be changed again so soon.

I do notice however that News 24's strongest asset - Jane Hill - will be now up against Sky News's - Julie Etchingham. After all, Julie was the one chosen to front the election coverage instead of Dame Kay so it could be a battle of the women....!

Something which made me laugh this morning - Ohna King, former Labour MP defeated by Geogre, No Oil Galloway, is to become a special correspondent for the SN Report.

Apart from that Jane is one of the channels strongests aspects and hopefully she can remain one.

Jane Hill is satisfactorally acceptable, but the Sky Report with Julie Etchingham is gearing up to make for interesting viewing.

And incidentally, News 24 should be strong enough in their own merit not to require a pathetic presenter reshuffle every time a competitor relaunches. If they do make any alterations to their output post Sky News relaunch, then surely they will be agreeing that their current arrangement is inadequate.

Being first, and being right. You probably saw where Sky was first and wrong last week, when it reported that Harold Pinter had died as opposed to getting the Noble prize.”

Sky reported that Harold Pinter had died? Live on air?

Sorry - but how can a news organisation like that make such a big mistake? Goodness me...

Most Sky News viewers won't have heard of Pinter anyway so they probably don't think it matters. Now if they'd accidentally killed off someone like Jady Goody, now that would be an embarrasment!

Lol! Nah, can't knock Sky too much because it is one hell of a fantastic news service but to get something like that wrong does show that the presenters on air NEED to be more vigilant - as do the programme editors and executives. It's not that hard to distinguish the words 'DEAD' from 'WON AN AWARD', to be honest.

Or maybe someone's ill, or a presenter can't do a shift anymore, or any one of the countless reasons that can cause a change in output. And surely NOT an agreement that their current arrangement is inadequate when compared to Sky..... blimey! People need to get a bit of perspective on how things actually work in the real world of TV News....

There are some schedule changes coming up on News24 in the next few months. To avoid the inevitable speculation that "they're doing it because Sky have relaunched, and Sky are fab, and everything anyone ever does is because they're copyingSky/scared of Sky" - yeah, fat chance - the changes are the result of the Mark Thompson cuts. They've been in the pipeline for months.

No - nothing that dramatic. Can't really say exactly what, but nothing to the "core" bits of the schedule. Many people probably won't notice, but there will be a few differences.

11pm-1am shift axed? Extra hour on the shifts either side?
