they are much brighter aren't they. the desk could be better if the camera that points straight on with both presenters didn't keep going green though.

were those red walls (actual walls not panels) in the newsroom before?

not keen on the right hand set. seems a bit white at the bottom. haven't seen the left hand set yet.

I'd actually quite like to see them get rid of the frosted glass behind the presenters in order to make them more part of the newsroom. It might give the studio a lot more depth, and make it seem less like they're all plonked in a corridor.

Whilst on the subject, it'd be nice to see them making more use of the newsroom itself, as they were before the election. I know there's an issue over the use of the camera from the summary pod, but I've always thought that was a pointless part of the set, and that they'd be much better off using the right-hand area instead for summaries.

I don't agree with the comment on the frosted glass as I think that it would make it look like there wasn't any spare studios left so the set had to be plonked in the newsroom. I do, however, agree with you about the summary pod and that it is pretty pointless considering it isn't used that often. I think that they should get rid of the summary pod all together, and make more use of the newsroom, for example talking to correspondents as they work for more information on a story and use the right hand area for summaries.

The only time the summary pod has a constructive use is when the studio is very busy, e.g. sunday mornings or weekday evenings. Quite often during the week, the main desk has a presenter and a couple of guests sat round it. Then the second presenter then does a headline summary at quarter to the hour from the pod, before handing straight across to the sports presenter who is on the right hand set.

I do like the backdrop in the summary area, the red banding looks good and the frosted glass (in my opinion) looks in place. The camera on that side is nice and sharp too.

Well they're not using the summary pod anything like as much as they used to, and there doesn't seem to be much pattern to how they do the BOTH.

Just now they did it with both presenters at the desk and used the 'news in brief' style astons and bed, with each presenter doing alternate stories. Actually I prefer it like that.

news24 has been doing that for a few days now. i think it was to do with news 24 tonight starting.

But i dont see where the presenters get time to prepare for any studio interviews or 2 ways.

Haven't seen two women present on News 24 for some time! It's Louise Minchin and Gwenan Edwards tonight!

Gwenan Edwards would have been a sheduled replacement. Louise must be a late replacement for Chris Lowe - who's been missing for 3 weeks. He was on Friday and Saturday, disappearing at around 21:30 with a virtually non-existant voice. Sounds like he's been quite ill, and obviously couldn't do another shift tonight.

What were Gwenan and Louise like together? Sound quite a bazaar pairing. Does anyone think that Chris Lowe will eventually leave N24?
