I agree completely. However, News 24 seems to have a become a better channel than its sister concern - BBC World, which has really hit a pathetic low. Even Martin Anderson's mock of Sky News is far superior to what BBC World has.

Yes I think if people were to see what BBC World has become, then people here would appreciate BBC News 24 more.

I'll second that Harshy. Ive just returned from holiday and thought BBC World was a bit of a joke compared to News 24. Its strange cause only about 3 years ago World was light years ahead of News 24.

I believe that BBC World is near (if not at) the bottom of the BBC's list of priorities...and it is beginning to show. It's always been the case that BBC World didn't get much attention and funding, but they managed to mask it quite well up until recently. The channel used to feel quite solid, and you could rely on it to give you a decent round-up of the world news, presented in a proper and neat way. Recently, however, things have begun to slide, both editorially and presentationally. BBC World, as you said David, used to be light years in front of BBC News 24...but things are rapidly changing. The best thing that ever happened to N24 was the December 2003 re-launch. Prior to that, it was full of technical mistakes and was quite slow on breaking news (and had a generally slow pace). Since 2003, the technical errors are rare and they are much better at breaking news (admittedly, not as fast as Sky News on some occasions, but that discussion is for another time) and the pace of the channel is gradually picking up. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future - whether BBC World will become so bad that attention has to turn towards that and away from News 24?

Its funny cause i watched a bit of footage of News 24 in the early days and its nothing like what it is now. The whole channel has come along so far since launch. News 24 really is a credit to BBC News these days.

It's a shame really, but what you say is most definitely true, it was the presentation that made BBC World look like a professional international news channel, so it's a shame to see so many presentation inconsistancies these days, the weather sting is awful, their breakfiller has improved but unfortunately their programme bit never works as well as it ought to, they can't even show consistant news titles, you never saw this type of thing 4 years ago, so it saddens me to this BBC World in a very poor state, I just hope BBC World are making money from their changes that they made this year.

I think BBC Prime must the lowest BBC priority of all.

It is, BBC News 24 has come on leaps and bounds since they moved in to the new studio, it's so much better these days, the studio is well lit and the whole presentation is seamless and professional, essentially it all runs like clockwork, something that can't be said really for BBC World.

It's been good to see Susan Osman on screen for the last three or four days, and not a doily in sight!!

Compared to the clean and tidy presentation area on BBC World, N24 looks too small, cluttered, congested and generally untidy. Can't they get rid of those huge screens and bring in some sensibly sized plasmas? The images on those screens always look too dark anyway.

I find the BBC World studio to be cramped and nasty looking. It's as if one fo the English regions has just been given a bonus and they've spent it on a new studio for the sake of it. The desk looks daft with the glass top (which I believe was because they couldn't afford a laptop) and the podium it sits on makes it seem as if the presenter's chair would fall off if they mvoes the slightest inch.

Well on News 24, you can tell World just added some glass walls, which don't span all the way, with News 24 it looks like a complete studio not an add on if you know what I mean, it's ok on World as it's the area you don't see anyway, so they get away with it, and the World secondary set is just so dark, like the studio lights don't seem to go all the way.

The only thing going for World's set is the plasma, it gives out a sharper picture, the projectors on News 24 are not as good.
