I know this has nothing to do with current discussion, but I thought I would add this picture of the first News 24 studio.

That's the second one

The first one was from the current BBC World newsroom, the second one came from where it is situated now.

Yep - that is a shot of the second News 24 set, which they started using when they moved "studios" in November 1998, when the BBC started broadcasting on Digital TV officially. (Unofficially that set was often described as "The Hurricane hit Conservatory" look...)

News 24 originally had a different set, and came from a "studio" which they only occupied for a year, and which is now currently occupied by BBC World.

News 24 started broadcasting in November 1997 before digital TV formally launched - and was originally only available on some analogue cable networks, and BBC One overnight.

Yes - I also heard someone call the set a car crash in a shower room. Thing is it looked very odd on screen as you never saw the entire section of the set. Looked much better in full than on camera.

I'm sure there are some people here to haven't seen this before but here's a timelapse of the 1999 era studio being built....

I thought they were in the now World newsroom until the 1999 corporate relaunch, but they weren't ? It's the first I've seen of this set. There is no mention of it on The TV Room, TV Ark etc.

They were in the 2nd flags era set (pictured above) for slightly less time than the 1st set (the now BBC World news room). News 24 launched on Sunday 9th November 1997 at 6pm. I think the studio move to its current location happened approx just under a year later when the new News centre was complete. Then by October 1999 it relaunched to coincide with the new national news look. Then apart from the slight changes here and there it remained like that for 4 years until the current look took over. Its quite hard to believe News 24 is just over 7 years old. Doesn't seem 5 minutes since the channel launched.

(Some facts may not be totally accurate so please dont string me up)

Got treated to an 80 second countdown on N24 before 10am this morning!

Also is it me or is the clock font back to normal after they tested the new graphics package the other week?

Rather comical hour(s) on N24 at the mo, coming up to 5 we had the business bimbo doing her piece on the wonderful emotive world of business while there was someone running around back and fourth in the background.
Then on the five o'clock headlines, it cut to Matthew and we now had some girl in the newsroom jumping up and down with a piece of paper, before been tapped on the shoulder by someone.

Just been watching news 24, Jane and Mathew are talking about being divorced as they are moving to new times from next week. I wonder what other changes if any will take place?

So both Jane and Matthew are moving to different slots then and wont be together anymore. Jane's just said that were see them both next week at "different times" so who knows where there be.

All we know so far is, well I presume from what Nicky said, that Jon is gonna be doing 4-7 so presumably this is to cement his role as lead presenter.
