Was Tim Wilcox standing behind the desk at the top of the hour or was it just me, it seems to be. He had the script tipping off his chest, and the red circle over the gallery was about head level with him.

He was stood in the headlines summary area - the studio is busy on a Sunday, mainly because Dateline London is live - Gavin Esler & guests sit round the desk, so no room for Tim.

'After Katrina' was a good news special - have to agree about the closing music, a nice piece well suited to the images being shown.

I always like it when they use that to end a programme. I always think they should use it more often, even just to end the News 24 bulletins after a major news event like Katrina.

It'd also work quite well, I think, if they did a similar thing to end the 10 on a friday - using a montage of clips of the week's news against similar music.

Very bizarre for News24 to launch into a series of Hurricane reports immediately after the Special. Does no one look at the whole picture? At least World had the sense to go onto other News.

Too right, and personally i think they are going overboard in theis coverage.

At least 54 people have died in China following Typhoon Talim and 400,000 affected. Where is all the coverage of that?

Over the past odd six hours ive seen maybe ONE headline on it, and right now i'd be far interested in that then the Hurricane which orrcured many days now.

The China Typhoon isn't as major news as you might think. Deaths by typhoon in China an almost annual occurance.

I don't understand why they didn't use Bill to present that News Special. I mean do they really have to send Jon Sopel, Bill Turnbull and George Alagiah to New Orleans? Aren't two reporters perfectly enough? IIRC Bill only presented the Six O'Clock News from there and didn't appear on News 24 or any other bulletin.

so are exam results but that doesn't stop them going on about them every bloody year.

seriously though although crap weather hits america all the time too the interesting thing here is
1 - the devisation caused and
2 - the crap response by Bush and Co

so that is where the newsworthy flag pops up.
