August is always a good time to trial people though, see how they cope with presenting (Reeta Chakrabarti got her go [albeit not very good]), but from the short time I saw them, Mike & Karin were quite good. I also saw Katya Adler (Madrid Correspondent) doing a report from the Middle East. A sudden thrust upwards, from Madrid to Jerusalem, no?

I think Mike and Karin are absolutely fantastic together. August, as already previously mentioned, is a great month for trials and hopefully it may give ideas for new pairings. I would love News 24 to reshuffle the current presenter line-up but axe Phil Hayton, Chris Lowe, Joanna Gosling, Matthew Amroliwala, Carrie Gracie first...they are all boring and useless. Promote - Karin, Kate, Julian, Tim, Simon, Peter, Mike. I'd also introduce Adrian Finighan, Nik Gowing, Mishal Husain, Asad Ahmad, Akhtar Khan, Barbara Serra, Gillian Joseph, Sheila Jansen to the line-up: spicen up the weekend shifts and maybe throw in a new independent morning breakfast show for the news channel.

Nik Gowing is, if I'm not mistaken, one of, if not THE most senior presenters on WORLD (it is him they always call on during major breaking news, is it not?) I doubt that they'd let him go, or he'd give up such a big gig quite so easily. I can see where you're going with Asad Ahmad though, he was always very good on Breakfast and the time he was on Reporting Scotland. And N24 needs an alternative to Breakfast. If they can't afford their own/need time for the studio to be empty, use TWT.

Nik Gowing is on my presenter line-up because it is my ideal line-up. It is a line-up that may not necessarily happen, though I'm glad someone else shares my liking for Asad Ahmad as a newsreader.

Oh, I know, and I agree that Nik Gowing is a very good reader (shame we can't see him in the UK). Personally, I'd prefer him to do a direct job swap with George Aligiah (gets him off our screens! Don't you just hate his "friendliness" and false smile??
) and put him beside Jane Hill for an excellent, if not perfect, pairing for the Six. But now we're just getting a little far fetched...

Aw come on I've a serious objection to George Aligiah getting stick, he's probly the best anchor on the main bulletins these days, and has a bit of damned gravitas, sadly lacking on TV News these days, hes not false!
I love the way he goes "bye byee!"
Take a look at Breakfast .

Well, yes, Breakfast is false, and George may have gravitas, but he's a poor presenter. He'd be much better in a senior correspondent role, he suits it better. And his "bye byee!", as you put it, is one of the worst things about his presentation! It's so annoying. He could at least say "Good evening" !

I think George is a good presenter and he seems to work well with Sophie. He also seems like a nice guy but I must say, his smiles do seem a bit false
IMO, judging by some of his past reports, he does seem better at that but when hes on the 10 he seems to do a better job than on thje 6.

I think the current problem with the main National Bulletins is they lack gravitas. A problem I think can be easily solved by removing one of the 2 presenters, merly having a single presenter. That and having a little re-think about the studio.
Anyway this is the News 24 thread so whos currrently presenting? Nice to see Phil and Karin yesterday, worked rather well.
