Can I just remind everyone that a moderator's decision is final, and that you are not supposed to challenge that decision? Charlie hasn't been moderating for two minutes and you're all jumping down his throat already. Do you think it might be possible to cut him a bit of slack while he finds his feet?

QUITE happy to cut the new boy some slack, Robert, no problem; PROVIDED he moderates THIS forum as THIS forum and does not deal with people HERE based on his pre-conceived ideas brought across from ELSEWHERE.

Surely Charlie was just saying he didn't want this thread to deteriorate in the same way as some of metropols threads have done. No mention of the posters previous offenses were made.

You mean....

''Can I just tell all of you who aren't in charge that what the dictator says cannot be questioned, and you will be punished if you challenge his actions. He has only just started this job, and needs to establish a foothold for himself, and a suitable way of shutting up those who might like to query his judgment. Until he has, shut up and keep your opinions to yourselves''.

You see. Much better.

Hehe!

Now, there's a "When did you stop beating your wife?" type phrase, if ever I read one, Marcus!

Whether or not a soderator has been in their job long is irrelevent to whether they are any good. I'd love to be a mod and ban loads of folk on here - like Nick Harvey. I'm sure that wouldn't get questioned by anyone on here.

Kate Silverton and Jon Sopel paired today - a good partnership to wake up to in the morning unlike Phil uh so dull Hayton!

Phillipa and Julian are current on. Working rather well together I would add. Great handling of the Tehran announcement.
