The globe in the BBC News 24 Dog clock slowly spins! Have you ever noticed it? You might have to go right close up to the TV.

When they first relaunched it was actually moving in the wrong direction.

Have you noticed that Sue Lawley's no longer reading the Six O'Clock News with Nicholas Witchell? There's some young girl with some bloke I don't recognise and all the blue's gone, it's now red!
For Christ's sake, some people! News 24 relaunched well over a year ago and you're talking about the amazing fact that the globe spins! Wake up!
Sorry, I'll calm down now.

I don't think that's very appropriate. Just because something happened in the past, it doesn't mean we can't talk about it now. Also, some people may not have noticed that BBC News 24's DOG spins - not everyone here watches News 24. Please try to respect other members.

Interesting to see the ticker went lower case this morning whilst the breaking news of an explosion in Madrid was being covered. At 9.15am, the ticker went back to full caps.

I managed to dip in an out of Sky News and ITVNC yesterday - not enough to form a strong opinion about their coverage though - but the bulk of the coverage that I watched yesterday was N24. I can't rate it comparatively against Sky and ITV, but I do think that N24 offered some exceptional coverage yesterday.
I sympathise with those who think that too much coverage was offered to Ellen MacArthur (although N24 wasn't alone there) - although I personally enjoyed that coverage enormously - but in spite of the considerable resources dedicated to that, N24 still offered some excellent reporting of the Middle East situation, as well as some very respectful and appropriate coverage of the repatriation of our servicemen lost in the Hercules crash.
With respect to the final story - and sidestepping for a moment the sombre nature of the story - I'd just like to highlight that N24 used a customised graphic during its coverage of the repatriation ceremony. As each coffin was borne from the C-17, a photograph of the deceased was placed over the images, accompanied by the quiet commentary.

1452 - Build up enormously an item on the Choral competiton between Oxford and Cambridge's University Choir, Make it as glamourous as possible detailing how the voices were superb.
1454 - Cut to Video - SILENCE
1455 - Embarrassment - Early Weather forecast.
moral........ Don't over-egg the story otherwise you might get it all over your face.
