13m45s into this clip, you’ll see Richard Whitmore throwing to the “Shuttle Studio”. I don’t recall this at all.

Science Correspondent, David Wilson, appears to be very serious and concerned by the latest launch delay and goes into full ramble mode. Thankfully, Whitmore is far more composed.

Kudos to the set-designers of the day! I didn’t know BBC News had it in them, back in ‘81!!!

I'm fairy certain that at the time I recognised that set background as from an episode of either Doctor Who or Blake's 7. Very Happy

It's full of gems. A very young Nicholas Witchell and Tim Sebastian, and towards the end an assistant of Jim Bacon using a tooth pick to point out weather features on a satellite image.

And of course, the absence of half a dozen trailers and other floss stuffed inbetween the end of a late running programme, and the delayed start of the next.
