Have just seen James Hall's attempt at the BBC News headlines over on YouTube.

10 out of 10 James. It's fabulous! Far better than Huw Edwards any day.

Link???

This I think.

Looking back on that:

1. I would have an autocue if I was reading professionally (unless it all failed!)
2. It was a very hot day - and as the room is only small, it works up quite a heat. Hence the sweat (being slightly rotund doesn't help either)
3. I was planning to dub oovs over some of that (to cover up my itchy eye) but obviously I forgot, and just plonked it on youtube.

Any more comments/suggestions/pi$$takes please comment.

Much love xxx

It's been used for a couple of weekend bulletins a few Sundays ago

Glad to see they're finally using the dusk background. It looked very odd last week when it was approaching pitch black outside towards the end of the programme and they continued to use the full daylight background.

Depends on where you live really. The north east is darkest first. The further south and west you go it's lighter.

Even from where I am here, just outside London, it was getting dark, so they probably should have started either using it from 6 or change it at 6.15 after the throw to the regions.

If they were clever they'd be able to put a light sensor outside and have it linked to some software that gradually dims the backdrop to fit whats happening outside.
