Interesting though that the BBC are so keen on regional input - yet they have one 5 minute bulletin each day, and ITV manages a 15 minute total time each day.
I just want to make a general enquiry...has Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen ever presented Breakfast? I've had a feeling that I saw him on it a few years back or I could be mixing him up with someone else. Any help?
He was on of the presenters of TV-am back in the eighties - but I don't know if he's ever done "Breakfast".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a feature on 'Breakfast' about the move to the Mailbox, & Nick got interviewed live?
(I wonder if the intro to the item went along the lines of 'Well here's a guy who knows about getting up at unearthly hours & this is the first time he's done it for 20 odd years....')
I never saw it, but I'm sure it was mentioned on here!

Westy, I do recall that verbage precisely being used on Breakfast a few years ago, and they did say "here is someone who was used to getting up early, blah, blah, blah........." But, IIRC, they were interviewing Nick Witchell, who was in the studio to be interviewed on a story related to Charles and Camilla.
IIRC, the presenters at that time were Jeremy Bowen and Sophie Raworth. But, the reference about past experience of early rises definitely was used.
Remember that for many years, Nicholas Witchell was the presenter of the BBC Breakfast News, after he left the Six.
As has been mentioned in the "BBC WORLD" thread, George Alagiah is to present a new weekday programme on BBC WORLD aimed at the breakfast audience in the United States.
Do you think he'll do it like Huw Edwards and present both the new programme and the Six or are we going to see a new presenter on the Six in the near future?
If George moves I think the most likely options are
Dermot to the Six
Bill for weekday Breakfast
Charlie Stayt as the new weekend anchor

I think it depends - if it is a just an hour long show, he may continue with the Six, but if it a typical breakfast show, 2-3 hrs then I doubt he'll stay with the Six. Your options seem the most sensible to me, afterall with News 24 such a high priority for the Beeb now, i doubt Simon would leave the morning slot for weekend Breakfast.
