Sian's pregnancy has even made it onto page 4 of the local press here in Dubai!!! A tad unnneccessary, I have to say!

Let's hope Moira is promoted to the Six!!!!!!!

Why would Moira be promoted to the Six, that Natasha's gig, although i suspect Jane Hill will probably be her stand in.

Sorry, London. I missed the official Press Release about Natasha and Sian's new permament positions at BBC News (presenting the Six and Breakfast respectively).

The Release seems to mention and credit Sian with a hell of a lot more than Natasha, who is almost only mentioned fleetingly!

I like the editorial note myself James. "Sophie becomes the face of the one o'clock news... Confused

Now that Natasha and Sian are definently staying in their roles as Six and Breakfast presenters, does this mean that Bill Turnbull will be permanently paired with Mishal or are we still awaiting to find out who this mysterious new face is?

As stated in the Breakfast thread Charlie Stayt is the new mysterious face.

I've been interested to read recently that David Willis, the BBC Los Angeles Correspondent, has taken six months off from his job to pursue an acting career in Hollywood.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4784482.stm

I was wondering if any of our insiders in the news industry would explain how this kind of personal project would work in relation to a correspondent's contract? Would the powers-that-be in London just simply be willing to grant Willis' requests for time off work based on his seniority?

I just find the situation somewhat strange! I know it's not strictly "news presentation" but interesting nonetheless.

Anyone at the BBC is entitled to apply for a career break. Usually six months or a year of unpaid leave with the option to return to their old job at the end. It's up to his boss whether to allow it or not,

As has been mentioned countless times before, she leaves at the end of april.

Peter Sissons is doing the national news today.

Anna Ford was very frank about her position tonight on a Panorama programme about ageisem. She said "I think if I'd stayed on the BBC probably would have found a place for me to be; I might have been shovelled off into News 24, into the graveyard shift". The programme's on the Panorama website and her interview is about 34 minutes in.

Thanks for that link pickle. Anna looks much younger there than usual!

Interesting parallels to be drawn with Six One...
