Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I didn't think that it was worth starting a new thread.
Over the last few years, the main news has been co-presented from Rome, Washington, Madrid, New York, Normandy, Sri Lanka, etc. I was wondering whether anyone could remember if these outside broadcasts were used through the 1980s or 1990s. For example, was the news presented live from Berlin when the wall fell, in Paris when Diana died, or at any other major events? If so who presented the bulletins?
Cheers

I know Martyn Lewis has presented the news on location in the 1990's, but I can't remember any specific examples.

I remember the Diana crash, I'd got home and found I had BBC World all of a sudden then the caption on the screen revealed what it was about. I remember Alan Little popping up at points, If memory serves, Kate Aid, Clarence Mitchel and Paul Renolds all also made an appearance.

I recall in 1985-86 ish, when HRH The Queen and Duke visited China, the BBC's Six O'Clock News was supposedly "anchored" "by Sue Lawley in China and Nicholas Witchell in London", as the intro boomed.
This was, as I said, around 85 or 86. It was purportedly live from China, and the handover between Sue and Nicholas would suggest that indeed it was.
However, I have just realised when I started writing this post just now, it was DAYLIGHT in China, which it couldn't conceivably have been if it was 6pm in London. Think about it!! It must have been a fake "live" bulletin.
China is London plus 8hours time difference!!!
I am sure that BBC News also did a special in March 1987, jointly anchored by John Humphrys in London and Kate Adie in Zeebrugge, after the Townsend-Thoresen ferry disaster.

Hehehe, I loved those old BBC news announcement intros. Scrap the announcers, just start the news on the hour and bring back Patrick Lunt!
