I was only half listening, but I'm sure I heard them introduce a guest as being in their "temporary London studio". The guest was sitting with a London Skyline keyed behind him.

Did I mishear this, or have the BBC got a temp setup for some reason?

Are you sure it wasn't "central London studio" - that's a phrase which is used quite often.

You're not wrong...

Looks like the kind of effort that normally prompts a tirade of abuse in the Mocks forum.

What's with the transparent bit underneath the astons?

Better or worse with News 24 tower & ticker...?

I know this looks crap but dont you think its better having something along the lines of this... rather than having random slightly transparant grey bars everywhere.

The whole thing looks awful. The red box BBC News aston doesnt match the colours of the studio at all.

And is it just me or is the font on the location aston on BBC1 different from that used on News 24?

Would have been better to just abandon the News 24 tower for 25 minutes or so and let BBC1 continue as normal.

I really cant see this graphics setup lasting too long.

I am a bit suprised that they have not started using the News 24 style astons, i.e. with the name on the right hand side of the aston rather than to the left.

Is that kind of thing impossible using N6's graphics machine?

Appears to be a condensed version of Swiss

Personally I think the new astons dont look to bad, minus the transparent bar and the bottom, has to go Exclamation I take it this redesign has launched due to N10 being broadcast on N24?

The astons may look slightly bizarre at the moment, but that's only because they look like stretched versions of what we're used to - I don't think they're too bad. I imagine they are just going to be stop-gap anyway, until the new set arrives later in the year.

Incidentally, we just found out that the BBC London headlines are pre-recorded. They started, we had three of four headlines, before they crashed out mid-flow whilst Emily was talking. Bizarrely, she started the programme as she normally would! No titles - nothing. Just got on with the programme!

Could have been both - isn't the Central London Studio at Broadcasting House, which is being refurbished/rebuilt?

I haven't seen the new astons etc. on the National News yet but from these pictures they do look awful with the BBC News floating no where near the edges. The transparent bit looks stupid as well - it would be easier for N24 to lose its ticker for the programme. Couldn't both channels have the BBC News tower which Breakfast uses on weekends?
