It's now somewhat after 11.15 and Newsday still on, so it looks like that will now stay (but I don't know what will happen at the back hour). However, maybe the technical problems aren't sorted yet and, if they get sorted, maybe the programme has yet to switch suddenly to Newsnight who knows?!?

Well Newsday is on an hour early!

Be interesting to see if we get the News channel in E or A at 11pm.

Or no News Channel at all.

They've joined BBC World. Newsday isn't on early, as such, as it's the first of the two editions that happen on BBC World which means I assume News Channel will now get the two editions.

Is the 1am edition GMT time a repeat of the second edition then or do they make 3 editions?

The 1am edition London time (9am in Singapore) is a live edition.

As seems to me so often usual with statements made by organisations, or by politicians, they don't actually clarify on the point. "We've joined Newsday ... while we sort things out" - could mean they'll come back to what they were going to do when the problem is sorted. Or could depend on whether the problem continues not to be sorted by midnight. Or could mean they will stay with BBC World now for the night.

I don't think their wording was intentional - we've joined ... while we sort "things" [whatever those are!] out - but just the usual way that people tend to think when they write things that aren't specific on a point that they probably didn't imagine.

Info: I have Asperger's, so I tend to think in a concrete and detailed way that clarifies every point specifically and isn't vague.

I suspect they aren't being deliberately evasive, they just don't know how long it's going to take to fix. Promising something you can't deliver is never a good idea in these circumstances.

Suspect that's it from the Domestic NC for the day. Gives them some more time to sort things before the morning.

No UK inserts it seems during the break, we're getting 'The World in History'.

That often goes out overnight in the UK, despite the World branding.

Assuming it's just a problem with Studio E, then it's not needed again until tomorrow lunchtime, thanks in part to the State Opening of Parliament (but even then its first use is normally not until 11 because of Victoria Derbyshire).

Plenty of time to get things fixed...albeit overnight.

Will BBC News completely join BBC World News tonight or will the opt outs continue as normal? (By opt outs I mean other programmes than Asia Buisness Report and Sport Today.) I'm not including the scheduled times for these programmes after the last Newsday edition.

But if it was just Studio E that was having problems they could have moved to A or even D to continue.

They were having technical problems at the start of Newsday which seems mostly managed now (but they still seem unable to sit at their desks for some reason)

That said at this point it wouldn't really make sense to swap back to Newsnight in a mid-broadcast.

I can't see any reason why not - if Studio C is working it can do the domestic bits as usual while pres opt out for World specific stuff.
