Some differences in how the nations handled this one

BBC One Scotland stayed with network for the duration.

BBC One Wales were presumably on the clean feed and got the same as on the News Channel, crashing to the dirty feed just as the network announcer finished reading the programme menu. The menu shown on screen is wrong for Wales - they're moving Room 101 a bit later for The Wales Report after the news tomorrow.

BBC One Northern Ireland stayed on the clean feed for a little longer than network, then cut to this and some music and announcements

Still problems on the news channel, no ticker and the box appeared briefly during Sportsday.

Someone's counted it on twitter (https://twitter.com/paulroyall/status/877274657333837826) as 17 occasions throughout the breakdown, presumably on the News Channel, but someone must be off to see how many of those made it to BBC One England/Wales/NI/Scotland...

I'm surprised they weren't able to switch out the News Channel to something else downstream of the studio to avoid Huw having to sit there like a lemon. Although I guess the priority in the gallery was getting the programme on air

Poor Huw - he was noticeably reading the news as fast as he could to make up for the lost time.

It seems like the system goofed and just couldn't cue the headline clip sequence together, then needed a reboot. Bit odd however that even once reset it still was keen on that "breaking news" ident. But I guess they had to roll with it.

Be interesting to see if we get the News channel in E or A at 11pm.

Given that Sport is still on 7 minutes after The Papers is meant to have started (according to the EPG) it's a good question.

"Breaking News" appeared: BBC One England: one, without audio, at the start, then a total of 4 others within the headlines (one of them silent) when the programme eventually properly started. They did well to limit the number. Scotland: same (as took England). NI: One, without audio, then a succession of 6, before the NI continuity, then 4 in the headlines. BBC One Wales: one at the start, then a succession of 9 before it joined England (and then 4 in the headlines).

Summary: England & Scotland 5, NI 11, Wales 14, News Channel 17.
