It was a bit like Time Trumpet's 'No News' prophecy had come true.

I just want the hydraulic desk bit and I don't mind if WW3 breaks out.

Interesting to see some of BBC's outputs of last night's breakdown simultaneously, and how they differed in the handling of this situation.

Video here:

Split screen breakdowns! This is why TV Forum is great - even if the video hasn't processed yet.

(I know it's hard to convey on an online forum, but I am being serious and not snarky)

Yup it's a satire programme from around 2006 on BBC Two.

Not a technical issue, but someone in the replies to this tweet recalled the split hot drink from Newsroom South East:

When they finally went Live did the schedule condense to save time, join a program in progresss or did everything slide?

And after last night's fun and games, tonight Scotland managed to broadcast a few seconds of Jackie Bird doing her hair at the top of the Ten, instead of Huw.

Yes it did, it was real and happened every day for about a year.

Gizmodo featured the "most awkward glitch". They seemed fascinated by the Robotic Furios. So I explained what happened as a Mosart failure and tried to keep it as simple as I could in layman terms. Here's what I wrote (that as I never commented is pending approval):

Quote:
It’s worth noting that this video only went out on the BBC News Channel simulcast. Those watching BBC One (the main channel) quickly got a generic slide with an announcer giving Wednesday’s primetime lineup and some music. What likely failed was Mosart, the production automation system, which controls the entire production system. The switcher, graphics, video playout, the sound desk, and yes the robotic cameras and much more. This enables one person to essentially produce the show but almost never occurs. Standard News Channel bulletins use a decent sized crew and the bulletins going out on BBC One have more. The primary and backup failed requiring things to be done manually. Automation isn't limited to the UK many if not most US local stations (including the large market network owned ones). I know ABC World News is automated using Ross OverDrive.

Joining a program(me) in progress is rarely done here. Following programmes are almost always delayed. The only exception might be a live network programme that is crashed into because a nation or region is running late locally
