Unusual start to the weekend news just now, after the titles there was no wide shot of the studio, which usually zooms to the presenter facing sidewards to show an image on the Barcos. Instead it cut straight to Mishal.

Director on twitter says that there was no camera or lighting operators: http://twitter.com/kaled10

Saw the bubble on Abingdon Green again yesterday. Looks like it's being rolled out for the Queen's Speech tomorrow.

I did wonder why it was still there, as viewed during this report on 'This Week' last Thursday, despite the fact that all the other broadcasters' tents etc had vanished:

A rare occasion recently, the BBC News At Ten started 45 seconds late because of the film before it.

Did the News Channel get a nice long-end countdown then?

It did, yeah.

Surely this causes a lot of problems in the gallery and studio if they are all set and prepared to start at exactly ten o'clock, or is this easily worked around?

It only causes problems if it's a surprise! Mainly we know when NC1 are due to get to us late (they call us at 2000 to confirm on/off air times) and we can work around that.
In this case it was planned as media planning were screwed for trail time...
Because N8 need to hand back to N6 so that they can do BBC World News at 2200 regardless... then N6 can easily fill to a fixed start time of the Ten.

With things like the weekends - it's a bit more flexible - and harder to do. Even harder when the programme is something like Eurovision - which can be off air at any time!
NC1 are quite good though - in that we'll know the length of the junction into us once the programme is off air - so we can hazzard some sort of guess.

Did anybody see the body on the 1? They kept on repeating footage of the Cumbria shootings and you could see the body in the taxi rank, behind the reporter, Deputy Chief Constable and in the generic shots. Thankfully they put an aston up that covered it for the most part.

I didn't notice anything.

There is a news special on BBC One now.
