I really think that the number 1, 6 and 10 should be moved out of the globe and into the white space beside it, where names like BBC World News America and BBC Newsline etc now sit.

That certainly would be more consistent with everything else Smile

I am wondering why they had this 'stand-up' report from next to the desk on the Six tonight. Obviously there was nothing cluttering the other half of TC7 as the weather was presented from there.....

Obviously to match the N6 setup, used on the news channel!

Yes. It clearly worked. I can't tell the difference.

It's better than the old N6 one, which looked a bit cheap and tacky.

Not sure why you have that view, Hyma. I agree it needs some of the 'modesty panels' that used to be attached to the former N6 desk to hide the bits of kit and wires; but otherwise it seems fully functional for the intended purposes (National/Newsnight/W-Lunch) without changing anything other than the colour of the lights.

because the top is too big for the bottom. I liked the old one where it seemed more equal.

I have to disagree again, as the desk top used on Newsnight was far bigger than it is now. The hybrid version used since January is acceptable for all with the modifications I suggested.

W/Lunch & Newsnight cope very well with the desk as it is.

Haven't seen it so wouldn't know for sure, but my guess would be the actual report had already been done on the News Channel (on that LHS wall), so they put the reporter there to talk to Sian "live" and then switched to the recorded report rather than doing it again.

The stand-up report actually zoomed-in live on the reporter and the desk was seen sometimes in the corner, so I doubt it was a pre-recorded piece spliced into the Six from BBC-NC.

I agree with others, in that it matched the reports from N6; but perhaps they shouldn't have done the 'long-shot' of such a tall prestenter on the rostrum (he was nearly able to fix the lights from there) Laughing

EDIT: In N6 you can now see the back of the studio wall behind the Barco Screens in wide-shots. You can't see the same in TC7.

I'm sure the desk does the job, but it doesn't mean it looks good. My face does the job of holding my eyes, nose and mouth, but it's still not nice to look at.
