Did anyone else see the news channel between the 11.27 weather and the 11.30 start of the News Special?

They played the countdown without the actual countdown numbers. It seemed like a different edit, with slightly different music, although it could just be the beginning of the 90 seconds (rather than the last 30 seconds) which is rarely played.

It's the weekend pre-nationals mix.

Well that's a surprise, a BBC News Special on BBC One from 11:30 to 12:15 for these airport closures. It's major but I didn't think they'd actualy go as far as interupting the schedule.

Of course it is. Can you recall Uk airspace ever being shutdown? I can only recall London airspace being closed during 9/11.

It's historic.

Well there was that time when all the airports were closed a few years ago due to a suspected terrorist attack.

Ultimately they can't exactly bring any more information as it is what it is and they probably could have covered it in a few extra news updates. But then it's only the daytime schedule they're disrupting!

are the BBC priming us for the real newsroom as the general design styles match?

This was causes by the technical problem before Bargain Hunt. There were no trailers either. It was odd seeing them come out of Bargain Hunt straight in to the regional ident. The one time an IPP could have been useful and they didn't do one.

What did the BBC News 24 Channel do?

Bargain Hunt ran into the hour, either due to the technical problems, or the News Special earlier.
