I think it looks much neater and the red is much brighter than the last desk which looked too pink.

Really like the changes on Newsnight, subtle but they work I think. Job well done.

That really does look smart. I've always been impressed with Newsnight's presentation throughout the years.

Not entirely convinced by the space where the sofa was - that desk just looks a bit out of place - where as the new desk looks lovely - far nicer than how they have it in N6/ the Six. And I love the colours of the set and that backdrop! Even the generic-type graphics aren't as bad as they are everywhere else on the beeb. Glad executives saw sense to keep the colours blue and not red-and-white it!

I presume the added red is to add to greater 'neutrality' for the campaign Wink

Nice evolution from the previous look, I do wonder how the desk will work with lots of guests around it though! And I presume we are yet to see the new sofa...wonder if it will be in the same style as the old one? It looks like the chairs are just re-covered of the old purple ones! One slight dissapointment...the graphics don't annimate on, in the national news style...

They used the new desk last night for the first time and had quite a few guests round it. It looks alot bigger than the previous one and is oval rather than circular.

I'm surprised that Newsnight now has its own desk, given that the apparent reason for the introduction of the previous (horrible) one was so that it could share with the Six. This meant that two nice desks were sacrificed for one horrible one. Why is it OK again to have two different ones?

They don't. The Six is using the same one as Newsnight now...the only difference is that Newsnight adds a sliver pannel in front of the desk....

I don't know if its just my TV but on the straps during the Six tonight, there seems to be a very transparent rectangle on the left hand side (just on the same line as the name etc, not on the BBC News dog)

Anyone see today's BBC One News Update at 12.15pm?

Emily Maitlis presented with several problems, sound then vision was delayed or lagged which sent it out of sync.
Sound issues continued towards the end. The Weather summary at the end was missed out although Emily spoke about it. She then said at the end the next update was at 12.15pm (or quarter past tweleve)

So either that was recorded for earlier and played again,
Recorded earlier and accidently played again,
Recorded with the mistake or just one big problem Confused
