I must say I'm liking the BBC's move towards having a smaller BBC logo top right.

I have to say those new Newsnight titles are very impressive, they look considerably more modern and "dynamic" than the current badly animated flying buildings.

The remixed music isn't that great though.

The titles are stunning. A simple yet progressive development on the existing 'brand'. Music seems richer and deeper, yet those random 'plucks' and screeches seem poorly positioned.

EDIT: Link now sorted! I think!

I agree, the new titles look better, but I am similarly not enamoured by the music.

Here is the final outing of one of the special versions of the current Newsnight theme music. It was broadcast last Wednesday, and even includes a bit of 'dead-pan Paxo' thrown in for good measure. Laughing

Apologies for the audio cutting off rather abruptly at the end: they jumped to the BBC Two weather forecast too quickly, tsk! Rolling Eyes

Indeed, that remix is rather good, there is another special closing theme they use occasionally, more jazz orientated.

At the very end of this clip, you can see Philip Hayton pointing towards the floor as if to be pointing out the exact spot where the earlier incident took place.

In the 80's, was the BBC Nine Oclock News broadcast from the same set/desk/studio as the Six? As a youngster, I always assumed it was completely different studios used, probably due to the simple use of different camera angles on the opening! How naive..................

Vision mixer mixed to the source with the background on it rather than the version with the camera keyed in?

I thought I had that on MPEG4 too, but unfortunately I can't find it. Rolling Eyes

Here is an MP3 version though. Wink

Ah, that's not actually the one I was referring to!

I wonder how many jazz versions they created?

Maybe jazz isn't the best word to describe the remix I'm thinking of; I've got an MP3 somewhere but I can't find it!
