Outstanding moment of comedy/farce on the Six. The running order had obviously been thrown out of the window with breaking news on the death of JD Salinger and Fiona Bruce interviewed David Sillito in the studio. Expecting the weather to be next, Fiona handed over to Louise Lear but she wasn't ready. Cue silence, followed swiftly by "I could tell you the weather myself, but I don't know what's in it". Louise Lear appeared eventually, still trying to finish getting ready and buttoning her jacket up.

Thank god Fiona Bruce can ad lib with humour! Made a potentially disasterous handover flow quite well.

That was great actually, it would be nice if their presenters would show their personality a bit more instead of the usual robotic handovers.

Well it is BBC News, they are far from immune to technical problems and gaffes are they... I think their presenters are used to it. Wink

Really? What other sort of technical problems and gaffes occur? Surely not anything to do with the screens...

It looked very awkward, it seems most presenters cannot speak unless the words are put on an autocue in front of them these days and this proved it. The person directing should have seen this as a problem beforehand, they had a minute or so to sort something out while the interview was taking place. Not good.

These days? If anything, what with 24 hour news channels, news presenters have to be able to think on their feet more than ever. To me, it didn't seem awkward and to describe it as "not good" is a bit hard-hitting considering ths has happened once to my knowledge.

Do people just like to moan or something?

I cannot believe the Ten is leading with the Tiger Woods statement. Surely the spending cuts is more of an appropriate lead story for the Ten. I mean, how is this news?

have a look Globally, Woods Statement is leading everywhere. Spending can wait.

Agreed - the news channel has been running with that as the main story all evening. Maybe one for newswatch....Smile

I also agree.

The most this story really warranted was as an item in the sports section.

The fact that many broadcasters have demonstrated the same mangled priorities doesn't mean that they're right!
