Why bother using green screen for the 9am, 10am and noon summaries when they have a studio fitted with Barco screens?
Surely it's easy enough just to project the usual NC background onto the screens in the part of the studio not being used for either the Andrew Marr Show or Politics Show on Sunday mornings.
Where would you put the camera desk and other such equipment? In front of Andrew Marr?

On whichever rostrum wasn't being used for that programme. There's plenty of space.

Except there isn't. I believe the Politics Show set it already in place when Andrew Marr is on as occasionally gets sit on the Politics Show sofas/chairs when they are being trailed at the top of the programme. It would also lead to further work. The green screen works effectively.

The Politics Show set furniture consists of a plasma screen, a couple of sofas/chairs, a table and a few other bits and bobs adorning the frame holding the barco screens. I doubt it's all in place during the Andrew Marr Show as some wideshots show the entire back wall of TC7. It's no more difficult to move a desk onto the corner of the rostrum (well out of view in a wideshort) than it is to move a couple of chairs/sofa etc for the guests when being trailed, or when setting up the studio for the later programme.
By the time TPS airs, the set furniture for the AMS has already been removed. That corner of the studio is shown quite often in the background during interviews. Again, putting a desk in the bottom corner (this time on the right-hand rostrum) against the barco screens would give a better background than on green screen.
Or if they do need to have TPS sofas and chairs out, why not sit the presenter on of of those. On the programme you can't see the desk, and they present news updates from the Breakfast sofa, so no reason they couldn't do the same. Especially as the green screen image has the lines representing BARCO screens on the newsroom.
They've been using some more imaginative openings to the 6 over the last couple of days. Last night with Huw the camera was at a very high level and slowly panned down to Huw with the story on the Barcos at the back and tonight with Sian the camera was very low (almost floor level I suspect) and slowly zoomed and moved up towards Sian with the story on the Barcos. I can't decided whether I like this or whether it looks a bit too like an entertainment show.
It's great to see Sian back on the News at Six, the camera seemed really low at the start and also suspect Fiona might still do the Ten but Sian could also do that. Really unusual shifts this week with Sophie, Fiona, Huw and Sian all covering for George!
