Oops, the titles failed to play into tonight's Ten.

I know! That doesn't happen very frequently on the Six or Ten. It's usually a News Channel mishap.

Just wondering, during the news bulletins on BBC One during 1999-2003, what did they do at the "Coming up" section?

Currently we see a wideshot of the studio and the music plays, as the camera zooms towards the desk.

(I didn't really watch the news during those times because I was pretty pretty young)

The only bulletins during that era to have a coming up sequence were the One and Six O'Clock News. Both of them used the headline bed with the cymbal crash and they finished with a visual sting. The wide-shots weren't used until they changed the studio in 2003.

ISTR there used to be this version of the Morning summary titles with a white background and red ovals around the number of the news bulletin on the screen which sort of animated into place on the screen behind the presenter when they returned from the coming up in regions in the old N6 with the wood panel floors.

Yep, that was from 2003. JJ is talking about the old china red and cream version of N6 between 1999 and 2003.

So was the sting similar to the old 6 News sting from 1999-2004, just replaced with a 1 instead of the 6?

I've just noticed this keying error on the midday bulletin shown at the start of 'The Politics Show' on BBC One. Karin Giannone briefly disappears, sort of:
