The hospital based analogy on the 10 went on a bit don't you think, and was a bit daft

Robert Peston continues to be annoying as well

Were they illustrating the meaning of "cash injection" with blood being pumped out of a medical syringe by any chance?

I think that was part of it, along with other hospital bed and heart monitor based graphics

That is hilarious!

As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and the original is an amazing and spine-tingling promo, but nothing wrong with a bit of piss-taking.

That's quite shocking - putting 9/11 next to John Sergeant. I wouldn't be surprised if there are complaints about that.

I assume you are joking or didn't read the original post.

God sorry - I feel an absolute idiot! Didn't realise that was a mock!

I thought it was a bit odd for the BBC to do something so outragous...

The original (non p*** take) promo remids me of the 'Now O'Clock News' promo when N24 started. Different feel as this is much more thought provoking and makes you think for a minute but the now o'clock ones featured major news events in a similar way (not all serious though). Hats off to whoever came up with this new one.

Cockup at the end of the news with the rugby report starting to play then getting stuck in a loop with that piercing "snow" sound you get when a channel isn't tuned in. "A gremlin and a half" as Peter called it.

Interesting thing was that they threw to the regions immediately after - did any region get caught out by being on air a minute or so earlier?

Brilliant that he gave a crafty smile as he threw to the regions too - bet he was thinking 'hope you're ready!!'

Well - hats off to Fiona. At last a BBC newsreader pronounced the word "controversy" correctly.

What you probably consider the "correct" way is infact the American way.

RP - con'trovessi
American - contraversi

However this is probably one of the few times when the American way is the right way - you don't say "con'trovessial", so why say "con'trovessi"?

I just watched the weekend news on BBC one and was just wondering what the news channel does when this is on (i dont have digital tv) and is it always one of the news channel presenters that present the weekend bulletins?

The weekend bulletins (along with the other National bulletins) are simulcast on both BBC One and the News Channel.

As for the presenters - it depends; sometimes you'll have the presenter who's currently doing their shift on the NC present it or there will be someone completely different presenting it.

3-4 sundays a month are presented by BBC World presenter Mishal Husain (usually Emily presents if Mishal can't) and the saturday and early sunday bulletins, like tellywatcher said, are mixed. Often the afternoon bulletins are presented by the on duty presenter, whether that be Peter Sissons, Nick Owen or even Martine Croxall, with a News Channel presenter (not one on NC on that day mind) presenting the Saturday evening bulletin.
