Thave have switched it to Two on several occasions, leading to both digital opts disappearing, and some of the smaller regions like Cambridge not being able to opt on analogue BBC Two

Looks like were switching to BBC Two for the early evening bulletin at 6pm...

Generic intro to BBC News at Six from Phil Vowels just now, no regional opt during the headlines either.
The former can be explained because had the Federer match not ended at five to six, one option might have been to delay the news by a minute or two, discarding all the regional annos ("...it's six o'clock").
But the latter?

Depending on the tennis, the six was possibly going to be moved to BBC Two, hence the last minute changes and since English regions can't opt on Two, the opt was dropped as it was hit or miss if the tennis would start bang on six.

You would also have got 15 minutes of news later in the evening, but since the Tennis shifted, everything went as normal.

Slightly different version of "A Day in the life of Michael Buerk", this time focussing as an aside on the scramble to get a bulletin together when a major story breaks just seconds to air.

These are the segments which were not shown on the main documentary. Interesting nonetheless.

James Landale looked suspiciously like he was on a green screen during his two-way "live from Downing Street" on tonight's Ten. I say that because his image was flickering slightly while the out of focus background stayed fine. BBC wouldn't dare take a risk like that in the current climate would they?

Is Fiona Bruce still a newsreader on the Ten? Or are all her commitments with the Antiques Roadshow?

God, that really was messy out of the Ten . The end sting failed to play, and the faders on the microphones were left up, so we heard the start of the end-of-bulletin banter. Peter Sissons said "Well done" to whoever was doing the sport, I think.

Francis Collings that would be,

And it was a shame that the end cocked up as Peter had done really well on the Nationals today. Reminiscent of the days when he used to do the 9 and 10.

It goes to show that News 24 and rolling news really isn't a style of news he's comfortable with and that he is quite competant with what he's been doing the most over his career, regardless of his age.

Cahos in the regions on 2nd of July! - They didnt know when they were going to broadcast - they were only told between 6.30 and 8.45. However if it came after 19.30 it would only be a 15 min bulletin, so 2 scripts had to be written.
