Nick Higham's report (apologies for the odd short bits of buffering - my internet seems to be grinding to a halt today)

What has it got to do with bloody Channel 4?

Lord knows - here we go, this one works:

The video's on the BBC News website, which might be better?

Hadn't spotted that - thanks. Although the video I put up also includes the interview with Angela Rippon at the end.

BBC News HD must be on the agenda though for some date (even if it is years from now)? So presumably there is some planning going into, or is it really just not being thought of at the moment?
Yes, but I as I said above, space needs to be found on satellite and DTT. It'll probably happen at some point in the future, but I'd have thought it's some way off.

Yeah, DTT space in particular is at a premium and I'd have thought a HD news channel would be way down the list of priorities behind finding a home for BBC Three, BBC Four and Children's HD content.

BBC News will be able to be seen in HD on BBC One HD and BBC Two HD, anyway.

I think the online stream will be HD, as the stream for watching the Pope coverage without commentary featured the new graphics and was in HD.

No joy, I'm afraid - the web streaming of the channel isn't getting a upgrade just yet.

Although as you say there's nothing yet, I do wonder if and how long it would be before the BBC consider offering HD channels live online even if they don't exist on TV (three/four/news etc), although that's require a strategic shift to pushing IPTV.

It would be an ideal way to tackle the HD situation, and there are iPlayer infrastructure upgrades coming I hear, but not sure if the Beeb are ready for HD streams Razz

Mishal Husain reminding viewers just then on the teatime news (before handing over to the regions) that she'll be back at 10pm with the last ever news bulletin from TVC, along with a short clip of BBC News through the years.

Mishal was a bit quick off the mark at the start with the 'clap' a bit delayed maybe?
