They're really getting into this 'this is the last XXX from Television Centre' now - Tomaz Shackasfbrbafdasdnaker started the forecast after the local news with 'This is the last Friday Night forecast from Television centre'.

And so they should. Smile

Nick Miller did the same thing at 9pm - his final Live Weather Forecast from TVC too.

A wonderful end to the Six, can't quite believe it was the same studio as Going Live and Live & Kicking.

Baffles the mind doesn't it. It looks tiny nowadays but back in those days Studio 7 looked absolutely huge!!

Probably my second favourite studio after Studio 1 for the memories so very sad to see it's very last outing.

Don't forget they probably only used part of TC7, behind the set is a lot of space. When I went to see Goldenballs being recorded in 2009 at Television Centre, it was in TC1 which is huge but they only used about a quarter of the space. The set was at an angle and they bought in two lots of mobile seating which was each side of the set.

You're right - there is a lot of space in TC7 behind the Barco screens. They take up a lot of space and actually made a heck of a lot of noise too due to each one having its own fan. So there has to be plenty of room for ventilation - you can easily walk behind them. It's rather deceptive, as TC7 is bigger than it has looked recently.

Apart from possibly the budget, is there a reason why the BBC didn't make the side Barco walls in TC7 longer? If I had the space, I'd take advantage of it! Also, I thought that Barco's could be arranged in a curve, which would have at least got rid of the ugly box shape, or am I mistaken?

There were some pics of the Barcos being installed as well on this forum somewhere, which also gives you an idea of perspective.

I'd imagine there was an aim to make N6 and TC7 look fairly interchangeable too - and to most viewers they probably did. So using the whole of TC7's space wouldn't have helped in that respect. Don't forget when news first moved into TC7 there was a requirement to juggle up to four different sets in the space every day rather than all sitting in the same space as has been the case for the last few years.

There are some amazing panoramic shots of both TVC and NBH studios here:

The last Saturday early evening news from the set with Nicholas Owen is just 10mins followed by local news.

No last mention, but he will be back for the last Saturday late news.

Doubt there will be a last mention - there's still two bulletins tomorrow and the saturday teatime/late bulletin time has never been fixed.

The £64,000 question is who will front the '1' on relaunch date: Sophie, Sian or Kate? Sophie is undoubtably the dominant face of the '1' but her regular hours begin on Tuesdays.
