BBC National News: Presentation

So, today's BBC News at Ten is the last full 10 o'clock bulletin on the dot from N6, due to tomorrow's 10 bully being on at 10:30 because of Comic Relief and weekend summaries not normally branded as 'the Ten'.

The 'end of an era' on domestic news is now very much in full flow.

It's not the world's most outlandish suggestion - they did get editor Peter Ripon (an amateur) to bring in his electric guitar to record the Newsnight theme a few years back, for example.

Suspect it was Peter Barron - he was in a band with other media types, and prior to moving to Google he edited Newsnight. Peter Rippon took over after he left.

Nice tribute there they didn't overdo it, I guess it would have been nice to have seen an ending shot, but this will do, is it me or does the Barcos look better when the Nationals are in.

Indeed, I meant Peter Barron! I've seen him speak about it - he gives a fairly amusing anecdote in that he says he went to meet the composer but didn't know he was going to be asked to play until the moment he was handed the guitar.
