It's safe to say it is. We've seen it during the news summaries during Sunday Politics and obviously World News for a while, now.

I can't find a clip anywhere, but when the TV news left Alexandra Palace and moved into TV Centre they finished with a rendition of 'Now Is The Time To Say Goodbye' played on a piano by Richard Baker and another newsreader singing
Does anyone know what the nationals will do to leave tvc. , I mean will the studios be given a tribute? , I would like to see at the end of the six o'clock news images of tvc all around the barco screens then the lights dimming and the door closing ( a bit like breakfast's last day at tvc) , but what about the one and the ten in n6 what will they do?

Maybe Tim Willcox will come in and play his Trumpet, with the rest of Newsreaders dancing to News of the World by The Jam? Or is that being saved for Comic Relief night.
I notice that the new BBC News countdowns were produced by a real life orchestra this time - shame Tim wasn't asked to perform as part of it. Would have made an interesting news piece.

Of course - why not get an amateur trumpeter to join one of the most talented orchestras in this country for a bit of fluff news?

Because it is already a BBC Two HD simulcast in all but name... I suppose it was easier for BBC HD to just follow what BBC Two was doing, including whatever schedule changes were required to accommodate the breaking news coverage.
The special was (in upconverted SD) on the HD channel too, for some reason.

Because it came from News Channel?
yes, but the same content as World, which would have been available in HD. I'm going to go with Odo's suggestion.

Jon Sopel's channel domination - BBC TWO, NC and World News now. Can't get rid of him

It's not the world's most outlandish suggestion - they did get editor Peter Ripon (an amateur) to bring in his electric guitar to record the Newsnight theme a few years back, for example.
