What I won't be used to is to see 'nationals' presented with the studio actually in front of a newsroom. It will be interesting to see whether they fit since I would usually picture a different backdrop associated with news bulletins in flagship channels of networks.

Don't they have proper studio lighting out in the newsroom? In N6 they have a fake night newsroom backdrop on the Barcos for the Ten. In NBH they could just dim the lights in the newsroom to create a more ambient setting for the Ten which is similar. That's my theory - but it could be wrong.

I wonder If they'll use the small Platform area in front of the Projection Screen to the Right as I haven't seen BBC World News use it.

I do hope that the presentation (especially on the News channel) gets updated. I'm not saying that they should do a Sky News 2005 and wander all over the place, mind you. A return to the 2003 News 24 style wouldn't go a miss: http://youtu.be/nmzs_sLl57o .The channel always felt much more 'alive' back then, apart from the god awful graphics and spiny globe with text.

I think the News at 6 has the right balance of stood and sat down/light and shade presentation. With the 6 presenter standing at the TOTH and after the :15 sting. I hope this is used as a catalyst across, at least the Ten nationals-wise. I do think the 1 from the desk is OK mind you, for the time of day it's on.

I really hope that the News channel aren't just going to do a carbon copy of N6 presentation and have presenters glued to the desk 24/7 and actually make the most of the studio space and possibly, go out in the newsroom for interviews from time to time.

I remember on Twitter that Maxine Mawhinney alluded to a cat-walk, so perhaps they will use the plasma screens and the area in front of them to do some standing presentation. Just a guess.

I agree. They must bring back the stand-up presentation (they do that when they were still in N8 during 2003-2008) and use the whole studio to make it more fresh. They can also use the newsroom for interviews.

I think it was said on here before, when I queried it several times that the reason why presenters don't stand on the news channel is because all cameras have to be positioned manually. In NBH they are on a track, so one would assume more varied presentation will return.

Let's wait and see. The relaunch is just two weeks away!

To me the desk looks like it can change color at any time (I assume this because in the current news channel studio when the the lighting on the desk is off it goes a darker red. They wouldn't have a black desk so its obviously turned off as you can see in the photo! Smile , but BBC world news's desk did change because I remember looking on Google images and seeing the original desk at nbh had a white top like the old one , but during piloting they changed it (sorry about the long explanation) , but I think world's desk can change color at any time as well.

Sorry if it's been mentioned before but what studio will the nc come from at 5 and 9? i can't find the page! Smile

Theres so many new design possibilities with this new look, I hope the editors (or design team/whoever) are trying out new concepts for the national bulletins.

For instance, how about the sweeping shot of the newsroom being used like an ident? As it zooms in/moves along the track, the VO could introduce the BBC News - that'd work quite well IMO.

I also really hope for the comeback of a traditional news close as well. I still dislike how the nationals just 'hand over' to the regions. This transition to NBH is a chance to try these things out and if a more formal close, with music was used, it'd look and sound fantastic with the new studios.

Can't wait to see how it all pans out!

The Five and the 21:00 hour on the News Channel will come from Studio A, the 'virtual studio'.

The Five will actually be from Studio C, not A.
