I wonder how much more limited the NC will be with camera shots and angles than WN having all their cameras on a single track?

Are there not two tracks? Isn't the camera track behind the plasma separate from the track close to the central podium?

If it's the same as World's set layout (which it looks to be identical to) then there are three tracks. Inner track with three cameras on, short track with one camera on for head-on presenter shots, and the long track for wides.

Also... I'd hate to work in that office and be on screen right through my working day. I wonder how the journalists feel about it.

Doesn't look like there's more than one on the photo on the previous page, however. I could be wrong but it looks like they're a bit more squeezed in at studio E than Studio C, particularly in ceiling height.

Presumably the same way as they felt when the worked behind N8, N9 or in some cases when they use to work for Sky News.

And presumably that opinion could be "unhappy".

Interesting, the desk is not long enough. Perhaps they will shift to a single-presenter mode and will be using laptops rather than a desktop. But the BARCOs are quite far.

Seventeen days to see it all put together.

This doesn't make much sense? What BARCOs? The top of the desk has some sort of cover on it, but I'm sure they'll be computers inside it, and hasn't it been all but confirmed that double headed presentation will continue, although they'll be less of it?

That clarifies things. It does seem like N24 and WN swapping newsrooms since N24 gets a live newsroom actually behind it while WN gets a projected screen, the reverse of what happened for five years running. But at least N24 won't be getting a London-centred backdrop which would surely fume those from outside that region.

Am I mistaken or are those print-outs of control room screens taped to the rear wall?

Yep, few weeks ago on World News, Ros was interviewing someone and it was behind them and as someone walked past it blew around, looked poor imo.

I don't know, not even moving Blue Peter to Salford didn't solve that sort of problem... Wink

On one hand, as a CNN reporter put it "there's no more sleeping on the job." Certainly pressure to some extent where you wish you were "on assignment."

Allo allo, what have we here?

Whats going to the right of the small screens in the centre of the picture? Seems like 2½ screens, them a bit grey box. What's that?

There's probably a glass surface under that canvas cover. They wouldn't want their nice shiny new desk being damaged before it even made it on air..

They are indeed - but it's just indicative of the TV screens which will go in their place. Given how empty the newsroom looks in that photo, I'd imagine it was taken a little while ago, so they've probably installed them by now.
