Mistakes again on the one, or was that just the North West? I think we may have opted out too early. Roger had to repeat the NW headlines.

South Today had the headlines followed by around 15 seconds of an animated South Today slide.

Same for NE&C. Assuming every region didn't opt out early, was there a problem on the NC feed?

London seemed to opt fine judging by the rewind on BBC iPlayer.

What was the last headline? NWT opted out after the Scottish census story. Sian's intonation did make it sound like the last story.

Ah, there was another headline after that about the cricket - there was a slightly longer than normal pause between them though which is probably why the mistake happened.

Looks much smarter using Swiss on the BARCO for the school shooting graphic

It's not Swiss, it's Helvetica. Wink

Apologies if this is the wrong place. Interesting that BBC News are using extremely ropey transfers of Anderson programming; the provenance of which appears to be the 16mm transfers Polygram were extensively distributing in the early 90s (which seems to be confirmed by their use of the 90's Joe 90 logo).

Why on earth would these terrible transfers be more readily available than the remastered versions, which the BBC have shown more recently (with the exception of Joe 90) and is available just about anywhere on DVD?

Interesting that at 10.57 today there was no news update on BBC1 even though all programming is back to normal. I know that these were to be stopping in the future - anyone else know if that them done? There isn't one scheduled for 3pm either (that's also due to the new programme line up on BBC1)

I think it's because of DSO, now everyone has access to BBC News they have no need to to updates throughout the morning and afternoon. I think the News at Eight is still on though,

Morning and 8pm summaries aren't back until Monday.

Lots of possibilities.

1. Material was released by news agency (APTN or Reuters) as part of a news release and included material cleared for use.
2. Material was in BBC News library from previous coverage of Anderson related News.
3. Footage was in BBC non-News library and called up instead of other material (it may not have been obvious that better material was available, or it may have been on a format not quickly playable/ingestable)

It would be unusual to send someone out to buy a DVD for this if material was available via other means first. News prioritises speed over quality usually... (And finding someone to send out to buy a DVD is not always easy...)

Why dose BBC national news need to rehearse?
Is It for BBC one?
And there's a few things I've noticed when the news at one is on from the nc studio the camera shots are much better-cleaner but when it's the news channel they are a bit more sloppy and the other persons shoulder is in view...-that's just a example am I the only one?

They need to rehearse as they are the flagship News programmes on BBC One. They need to run through the script to make changes if it sounds off a bit or if there are last minute changes e.g. developments and ensure that the whole bulletin runs seamlessly.

Also they give the regions and nations the cues as to when to opt out e.g. the last headline etc.
You probably notice the shoulders and such as the camera position doesn't change but as the NC is double headed.

So is the one not a flagship program or can they not rehearse as they are produced by the news channel team?
