Why not put the News channel back in N8 and just leave it there and let the Nationals come from N6? Another option would be to use N8 for both. N8 has the added advantage of the pod and extra vision mixer as well.

They are already running 2 studios, N6 and TC7 - so running N6 for the 2 National Bulletins and N8 for NC isn't to make much difference. I doubt they'd put the One in N6 if the news channel moves out of N6 totally as the One is run using the News channel staff.

I'm sure someone said on here before (I maybe wrong) than N8 is cheaper and requires less man power to run than N6?

But surely it's better to run a similar system to which they will be using in BH rather than reverting to a system they haven't used since early 2008 and will probably never use again?

I just assumed with N8 being more flexible, it would make sense to put the News channel operation in there until the move next year. This would free up N6 for the nationals and anything else they may use it for. It would also stop the swapsies of studios all the time. I do see where your coming from though...

From a presentation point of view, I'd much prefer to see N8 used more, but as I said, it probably makes sense logistically to primarily use N6.

Umm, aren't you forgetting World News will still be in N8 until mid November.

I think Worzel means the period after WN moves out but the NC is still in TVC.

Well that's only going to be a couple of months, so what's the point?

Because a new system has to be in place in order to close TC7 but still give the 6 and 10 rehearsal time. Worzel provided a perfectly legitimate scenario for the few months over Christmas. It was after all the system they had prior to April 08.

Why couldnt single headed NC presentation eg late night, transmitt from a pod size set?

Most of the time, its normally presenter plus one guest anyway!

Just because it shares with BBC One, doesnt mean it has to continually use the same set!

If I read this right, NC could move into the N8 pod at 9pm & stay there till 10pm, using the spare mixer, then Bbc One has an hour to set up, or is that not physically/technically possible?

Since when did N8 have two full vision mixers? Worzel's post above is the first I've ever seen mentioning it.

It does have 2 vision mixers, I dont think the second one is a full size mixer mind you. Its also been mentioned before - as thats how World can continue to broadcast VT programmes while the News channel is coming from N8 at 21:30.

There's been various explanations given - an aux bus on the vision mixer, the emergency cut panel and the World pres suite being used to allow alternative sources to be shown on both World and the NC (the latter for World only) without using their "home" mixer. None of those would allow two full seperate programmes to come out of the same studio.

It does not have 2 vision mixers.

It has a Presentation suite at Red Bee - which plays the back half recorded programmes, and that's how it deals with the channel going in at 2130.

N6 has a NETWORK SWITCHER - which allows NET 24 - The News Channel Distribution chain - to be fed via a number of simple sources and different gallerys.
This is what is used to 'switch' N6 out of cuircuit to N8 to allow the Ten rehearsal.
