Pretty sure the opening to the Ten is nearly always pre-recorded.

Admittedly it's been several years since I've been to the BBC, but whenever I've seen a bulletin going out, everything's been live from start to finish. So, unless that's changed I find that rather surprising. I know that ITN pre-record the headlines as a matter of course, though.

I think one of the directors said on this forum that the BBC would never pre-record a bulletin!

Out of curiosity, how would they have recorded the opening, because wouldn't the studio have been in use on earlier times?!

Nice closing on the News at 1 today with Tim Willcox, using World News' closing sting, with the BBC News logo of course Smile

Don't forget N6 is free for the Ten to record headlines between 9.30pm and 10pm. There's also a difference between recording a headline sequence and a bulletin.

I'm pretty sure it's not recorded. Behind the scenes videos show that they're not recorded. One recent showed Fiona having the headline sequence changed 60 seconds before going to air.

And if you go to someone on an OB during the headlines it always says LIVE

Not always . You'll occasionally get a locator without a live bug which indicates that either that headline or the whole sequence (if it's a complicated one) has been prerecorded. Doesn't happen often though.

What is the point of having the weather presenter outside on a mini balcony? I'm not a ****, I can look outside if I want to know what the weather is doing.

But worse still, the poor women just now was almost unable to present it because it was so windy and the light in her face was way too bright. It's almost like somebody was shining a torch in her face.

Plus George said 'Thanks Helen', then had to correct himself and say thanks to who was actually presenting it!

I agree. I don't see any benefit from having the weather there. If anything it's a hindrance because they are unable to point at the graphics.

BBC London News appeared to have the right compromise this evening from the World studio.
