Really does look like a case of "even better in HD".

"Now on BBC One - and in high-definition on BBC One HD - the Ten o'Clock News"

Okay, I may be being slow here, but how long has the national news been in HD?

From tonight and until the end of the Olympics!

Apart from tomorrow's 10, as it's on BBC Two. Opening titles looked fantastic though.

They were sans the BBC One HD DOG.

The background certainly looked so much better. It had appeared rather 'washed out' for the 10 earlier in the week., but it may be that having all the lights on in the stadium helped.

So did Huw disappear just before 10pm to present the 10 o clock on BBC TWO? Or did he just disappear?

Fiona Bruce presented the Ten. Huw is still commentating.

To be honest, I haven't heard him much this evening. Hazel and Trevor seem to be talking more.

Not sure if someone at BBC Two was trigger happy or the news team ran late but there was a brief countdown and coloured bars at the top of the programme before cutting to Fiona. Opening pre-recorded?

Pretty sure the opening to the Ten is nearly always pre-recorded.

Admittedly it's been several years since I've been to the BBC, but whenever I've seen a bulletin going out, everything's been live from start to finish. So, unless that's changed I find that rather surprising. I know that ITN pre-record the headlines as a matter of course, though.
