I don't see that it's an issue, the majority of people simply don't care that the sound is slightly poor occasionally, and the lighting isnt so great sometimes... because... well... they can still see whats going on and hear what is being said.

It does not affect the bulletin/channel at all... I would much rather these hard working people have Air Conditioning that leaks sound on air than boil to death in a 22-storey-high glass box.

As for the background, it looks incredible on screen... I really don't understand why some members are complaining about it.

Other way around. The top of any angled glass would be further into the studio, the bottom further out. Having it your way round runs the risk of seeing lights reflected in the glass.

Of course it would Embarassed #brainfade

I don't think I agree with you. Surely a national broadcaster's main aim should be to produce the highest quality product possible within the limits of their resources? I admire the intention to relocate nearer to the action (although I think presenting entire bulletins from there is a little excessive; other news would be better delivered from TVC) but if that requires a reduction in the technical quality of the broadcast, is it really worth it? Poor lighting and sound may not matter to you, but it certainly does to those with disabilities. A friend of mine is partially deaf and she has a dreadful time trying to follow television due to poor sound quality and/or excessive background noise. I dread to think how she's coping with these broadcasts at the moment.

Far, far improved sound on the 6 this evening with George Alagiah. Not a hint of echo at all.

The Air Con is probably there to prevent equipment overheating rather than people!

Thing is Sky News can't broadcast from there in so much detail. The BBC are the main UK broadcaster - they will get bigger figures.

Maybe if they were doing a World and the whole output was coming from there - the ratings would be even higher.

BBC News titles looking great in HD. It seems the studio camera the beginning was SD, however.

"Now on BBC One - and in high-definition on BBC One HD - the Ten o'Clock News"

Okay, I may be being slow here, but how long has the national news been in HD?
