For those who don't know, the News at Six will air at 7pm again today. However, it will be reduced to a 20 minute bulletin!

Mad Shocking - but let's not go there!

is that a... erm... yes I do believe it is a GRUMPY FACE emoticon!

Oh shock horror the news is an hour late... well for those who cant wait that long the BBC have been planning for such an eventuality since 1997 when they launched an innovative new channel and called it BBC News 24. Later changing the name, which IMO was a bad choice, but nevertheless gives viewers not interested in football and HUNGRY for the news an everlasting supply at whatever time of the day they like.

...and for those who feel short changed by the reduced running time... ::points to the remote::

Yes, personally I'd recommend Channel Four News as an alternative. Given the amount of politics in the news today I suspect Channel Four will devote quite a lot of time to it and they're usually quite good at this sort of thing.

Just saw some strange astons come on screen wiping on from the right and fade out, they were also strangely stretched. Anyone else see this?

It happened the other day as well. Looked like the astons in that case had been burned on the package. Unfortunately I can't remember what the package was about.

I think the BBCNC report astons are burned in because when I flicked over to the BBCNC it happened to have sign language, and the astons appeared within the smaller sized box rather than above the ticker in its normal place. However unlike this example they still appeared with the BBC News logo on them.

So yes this is a bit strange.

Isn't that the 1 - where the squashed video is the graphics which are going out on BBC One, with the ticker running as normal on the bottom of the NC output.

Well it appears that Nick Robinson is doing this evenings report about today's finding with reference to the Prime Minister at Leveson.

Just after 4pm Nick Robinson was on the News Channel outside the Leveson Inquiry being interviewed by Matthew Amroliwala. Seems that he has survived several Prime Ministerial utterings of his name!

It seems to be upside down, that's certainly unusual Smile

the signed bulletins require a bit of slightly complex routing: N6 gallery, post-Aston, but pre-ticker is sent up to the Broadcast Centre signing studio. They then shrink it down (and add the news background), and key on their signer. This then comes back to N6, where it gets the ticker added, and goes out to air through the usual route. The Astons are generally added on-the-fly, and aren't normally burned in to the reports.

In theory, you could add the Astons on after the signing, but you'd run the risk of obscuring the signer's hands.

Who on earth was racking the cameras in Athens last night on the 10pm news during Fiona Bruce's slot.

It's been a long time since I've seen two cameras so badly matched. Looked like something you'd expect from 1970s regional TV, not 2012 network !

Are the lower line on the astons on BBC Newsday in grey colour, or black? I know the font is slightly smaller and the weight is lighter than the bolder primary line, but watching the program yesterday on an aircraft, the second line looked definitely grey, as opposed to black.

I am not sure if it was just BA's inflight hardware, or if they actually are grey. Never noticed it before, to be honest.

Looked quite good actually.
