Did anyone watch the News at Six? Who on earth was that chav reporting on the China earthquake? Seriously, it sounded as though he'd won some sort of competition and got dumped on the news to make a report. Talked reallyyy sllowww with a very broad yorkshire accent, sounded as though he was a teenager, and obviously missed a lot of broadcast jorrunalism classes, because he kept giving his opinion and saying ''I've seen this'' ''I've met this person'' ''This looks awful to me.''

He was probably a producer again. I suppose a lot of people are covering Burma, the guy with the broad Scottish accent (Quentin someone) doesn't seem to be rushing to leave Beijing and James Reynolds said on his China blog that he was in London when the earthquake struck and has only just made it to the epicentre.

I suspect Quentin is staying put in Beijing so that they have a guaranteed live reporter in the country - who can also stay across the Chinese government response.

What's wrong with a Yorkshire accent?

Admittedly the voice over wasn't great but still it wasn't that bad. I wouldn't say it sounded like a Yorkshire teenage chav.

For at least the second time in two days BBC London have used the wrong headline bed during the TOTH headlines.

I noticed that on todays News at One- was really obvious and sounded really bad. Wink

I liked the slightly wider shot they used on Kate today at the very start of the headlines. Normally they just use a closeup.

Shame they went to the second thunderclap too quickly though. Which raises another question actually. Does the thunderclap sound automatically when the next headline appears? I always just presumed it was done manually.

Usually on BBC World they have 4 thunderclaps that play every 5 or so seconds and its part of the track, but on the old World News Today they restarted the headline bed which sounded silly.. not sure about National news though!

National news its just one track with a thunderclap 'bong' to play over the bed for each headline.

You'd think by now they would get it sorted, some days they fail to play a bed at all, others like today they play the regional bed not the national one, sometimes they start it too late, sometimes with a thunderclap and sometimes without, it really is a joke.

Really? I always thought there was a vamp with the thunderclap at the start which was restarted each time - that's what it sounds like to me.

Is it really necessary for the BBC to include in video of T5 in the report by Tom Symonds covering British Airways results a frustrated passenger giving 'the finger' gesture towards the camera?

BBC News Report - at 31 seconds.
