It was slower, and you could still hear the audio over the beeping. It seemed to start and stop rather definitely as well, rather than just a dip.

Was it there last week for the elections too?
BBC Parliament, as usual, doing their own thing from MB1 with the channel's deputy editor Daniel Brittain in the presenter's chair. No Betty Boothroyd this time round, but some good constitutional experts as guests.
It's often quite entertaining coverage - normally with openings and prorogations they give quite detailed commentary on the hat-doffing part of proceedings.

I thought this was the best place to write about the State Opening of Parliament now on BBC One.
Huw Edwards in the 'pod' used on occasions of royal and state significance, giving great wide views of the lawn outside the Houses of Parliament.

Okay, this is a little odd. The Huw Edwards anchored coverage is airing right now on BBC One and the BBC News Channel, BBC Parliament has its own coverage, anchored from the normal Westminster studio by Daniel Brittain. Seems a little strange to have this separately anchored coverage.

BBC Parliament retweeting some comments form viewers that their coverage is better than BBC One. Not sure about whether it was used for last week's elections. I doubt it, but I'm not completely certain.
It seems BBC One is talking more about the politics with the guests in the pod, and the issues to be raised today, whilst BBC Parliament when I was watching seeming to focus on the ceremonial side of the event, with a historical and traditional approach.
Looks very dark in the Westminster studio as well. And those seats that Huw and guests are sitting on look very nice indeed!

They've done it for a few years now, though it seems that 2009's didn't use the studio, and was presented by Mark D'Arcy. See also last week's coverage of Prorogation (with no in-vision pres); as I mentioned, with coverage of hat-doffing.
They seem to have decided that Dennis Skinner's sarky comment is now part of the constitution

I was hoping we'd get a point at the camera and a line of 'And that's the weather, for now'... Daniel Corbett style!
I trust the next time there's a MET Office strike, he'll be drafted in to cover!
Thanks. He did very well.
